Fall Session Guide

...because I'd never let you go to your session clueless!

Photoshoot tips:

  • Bring Snacks and Toys: For younger children, having their favorite snacks and toys on hand can be a lifesaver. These can help keep them happy and engaged.
  • Not used to being in front of the camera? Nervous about posing? Totally fine, and normal! Just follow my lead, I promise I won’t leave you on your own. I will direct you throughout our session.
  • Use Props: Simple props can add a fun element to your photos, but don’t overdo it. A favorite book, a blanket, or a small toy can be great.
  • Please, p l e a s e, PLEASE be on time. I recommend arriving no less than 10 minutes before your scheduled session – this gives you time to warm up for the session and familiarize yourself with the location.

Outfit Guide:

  • Outfit Colors: Avoid wearing the same tones as the fall foliage (oranges, yellows, and browns). Choosing contrasting colors—like deep jewel tones (emerald, navy, burgundy) or neutrals (cream, gray, black)—will help you stand out beautifully as the subject.
  • Comfort First: Wear something you feel comfortable and confident in. If you feel good, it’ll show in the photos!
  • Coordinate, Don’t Match: For families or couples, aim for outfits that complement each other rather than wearing the exact same color. This adds variety while keeping a cohesive look.
  • Try to Avoid Logos/Prints: Try to avoid clothes with big logos, words, or bold graphics/prints—they can take the focus away from you in the photos.
  • Textures & Layers: Knit sweaters, scarves, and jackets not only look great in photos but also add depth and movement to your images.
  • Notes: Ladies, if you plan on wearing heels, bringing a pair of crocs/comfy shoes to wear as we walk around is a lifesaver!
